Caravan site owners win award

Posted by Freddy Morton

Caravan refrigeration owners looking to take a holiday in Huntingdonshire should check out Stroud Hill Park Farm as the owners have recently won a coveted award.

Stroud Hill Farm has been awarded the Farmers' Weekly Diversification Farmer of the Year Award 2010 for its efforts in creating a successful business out of a farm.

David and Jayne Newman began transforming the farm over a decade ago after realising that the soil was incapable of allowing them to earn a living through arable farming.

The couple have developed a caravan park, paintballing facility and restaurant on the site, with food being produced on the still working farm.

Stroud Hill Farm previously won the AA Campsite of the Year prize and two gongs at the Hunts Post Food and Drink Awards.

The farm is also in the Higher Level Scheme and the couple has established 5ha of native woodland, 1.5ha of wild bird cover, two lakes, eight ponds and wetland areas, with two eco lodges planned in the future.
