Caravan taps owners 'consider holidays essential'

Posted by Linda Davidson

The luxury people are least likely to be willing to cut back on is their holidays, caravan taps owners have been told.

New research published by ABTA – The Travel Association found that four in ten Brits list this as an essential they would not cut back on.

Holidays were seen as more important than eating out, the cinema and gigs and new gadgets, as well as home improvements.

One in four are willing to take breaks within the UK, while 20 per cent consider longer overseas trips essential, it found.

Victoria Bacon, head of communications at ABTA, said this confirms the fact that people have consistently emphasised the importance of their holidays.

She said: "In tough economic times we all have to think of ways in which we can tighten our belts but it is very reassuring for the industry to hear that holidays are the least popular choice for the chop and for many, something they simply cannot live without."

ABTA also recently published figures showing that Spain is the number one family holiday destination for caravan tap owners.
