Caravanners planning holidays abroad in 2011

Posted by Greg Throughton

Caravan rooflights owners are already planning to holiday abroad next year in a bid to escape the damp summers and freezing winters of the UK, according to a new survey.

The Travel Trends Survey, from TripAdvisor, found that one in ten holidaymakers is planning to travel more in 2011 than they did in 2010.

A total of 67 per cent of Brits are still preparing for a holiday in the UK next year, but this figure has dropped from 73 per cent this year.

Emma O'Boyle, TripAdvisor spokesperson, commented: "Britons intend to travel more often and will spend more money doing so, but will proceed with caution as the industry emerges slowly from a very difficult year."

Increases in air fares and the threat of strike action mean that people are being more cautious when it comes to booking holidays, with 28 and 31 per cent of respondents saying these would have an impact on their holiday choices this year.

One North East was recently keen to emphasise that there is still a great deal to do in the region, despite the current weather conditions.
