Consider caravan use before buying

Posted by Freddy Morton

Owners of Waeco caravan fridges looking to update their motorhome or invest in a new one need to first consider some important questions, according to the National Caravan Council (NCC).

A spokeswoman from the NCC explained that people need to ask themselves what they plan to use their caravan for.

"If you want to use it as a base for windsurfing and are always going to eat out, then the kitchen is less important - you might not need the optional microwave - but storage room will be more critical," she explained.

The next thing people need to do is check the weight of caravan their car can safely tow, she said, adding that newbies should tow a caravan that is no more than 85 per cent of the kerb weight of the towcar.

Val Chapman, associate-editor of Go Caravan, said that people with large families do not necessarily need to buy a large model as long as it sleeps the required number of people.
