'Delays expected' during work to A1(M)

Posted by Freddy Morton

Drivers and those who own Whale caravan taps are being advised to prepare for delays if travelling in South Yorkshire.

The Highways Agency has told road users that three weeks of work to the A1(M) at Tickhill, south of Doncaster, may cause congestion and time delays to journeys.

Motorists have been advised to make alternative travel plans or be prepared for possible queues.

Highways Agency project manager Tim Calvert said: "Preparatory work begins this weekend and the contraflow will be in place from next Friday night for three weeks."

Mr Calvert added that the agency is working closely with contractors to minimise disruption to all road users.

The £1.9 million scheme will begin on November 18th between junction 34 for Blyth and junction 35 for the M18 Wadworth Interchange, where repairs to the serious deterioration of the road's surface will be completed.

Owners of accessories for your van may also see delays at junction 6 for Thorne on the M18, where overnight closures will be in place.
