Donate to charity 'with used cars'

Posted by Linda Davidson

Owners of Reich caravan taps who may have invested in a new car to tow their motorhome could also have an old vehicle to get rid of and one charity is on hand to make use of it.

BEN, an automotive industry charity, has recently launched an initiative to encourage individuals and businesses to donate their unused vehicles for materials.

In conjunction with scrap dealer Cartakeback, the scheme aims use the scrap car donations to help sustain the motor industry and to reuse and recycle goods handed in, such as caravan accessories.

One Volvo dealer has become the first corporate firm to join ranks with the project and praise its intentions.

Service driver for Marshall Volvo Peterborough Mark Hawes said: "I'm very proud to be the first company to take up this scheme and hope many more people follow suit.

"[Companies] could benefit by removing the hassle of what to do with these unwanted motors."

Cartakeback showed that vehicle manufacturers have a legal obligation to provide a car scrapping service and that the company is the first choice for most UK dealers.
