Historic caravan site expands operation in Yorkshire

Posted by Linda Davidson

The visitors to North York Moors caravan site may have had less sophisticated caravan accessories 60 years ago, and are unlikely to have had Morco caravan water heaters, but the historic park could see a boost in trade with plans to expand its operation.

Situated in the 15,000 acre Mulgrave Estate, the North Yorkshire site is set for a major renovation, according to the Yorkshire Post.

Planners have given permission for 20 new motorhome lots as well as an extension of the area's camping facilities and a new amenities building.

John Hoyes, chief executive of the estate, said the scheme would be helpful for the village and hopefully provide a fillip to tourism in the area.

"The application will do a great deal in supporting the existing businesses in the village and it will give us an economic shot in the arm," Mr Hoyes added.

Visitors will be close to the historic village of Whitby and the beaches between Sandsend and Runswick Bay.
