Men are riskier drivers than women

Posted by Freddy Morton

Owners of Whale caravan taps have been warned that men are statistically more likely to be involved in a crash then women.

New research from Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) revealed that men are almost twice as likely to be in a crash as women because of some dangerous driving habits such as driving too fast and drink-driving.

They are also more likely to be in a collision due to carelessness, poor behaviour or inexperience.

Travelling too fast for the road conditions is recorded more frequently in men, with seven per cent, than women with four per cent.

"These results show that we need to look at the psychology of male drivers to reduce risky behaviour and over-confidence, but for both sexes accidents could be easily reduced by improving driver skills and lives could be saved," said IAM chief executive Simon Best.

He added that driving is a life-long skill that requires constant learning and adaptations.
