Motorists hit with record fuel costs, AA reveals

Posted by Greg Throughton

Owners of Waeco Caravan fridges are likely to be hit by another dramatic rise in fuel prices.

Figures from the AA have revealed that average petrol prices have exceeded 132p a litre, meaning that for the first time ever fuel cost more than £6 a gallon.

Soaring costs have pushed petrol prices to this historic high, but the AA has warned that further increases are likely, caused by the current turmoil in the Middle East.

"The Government must act urgently to reduce the burden of high fuel duty and VAT," AA president Edmund King told motorists and caravanners.

"In the meantime, drivers are going to have to manage as best as they can, by cutting out journeys, driving more economically and hoping that a stronger pound will cushion some of the blow," he added.

The Independent said that with rising fuel prices and insurance premiums reaching an unparalleled high, hitting the road has never been more expensive.
