Northumberland caravan park 'to boost tourism'

Posted by Linda Davidson

People with Whale caravan taps planning a trip to the north-east may be interested to learn that a Northumberland caravan park is set to expand following a change of ownership.

Experienced caravan park owner Dennis Dunham bought the South Meadows Caravan Park in Belford from previous owner George McLaren-Brow for a fee of roughly £3.5 million, the Journal reports.

He has plans to increase the number of sites available to caravanners in a bid to boost tourism in the area but reassured residents that he plans to keep the site as quiet as possible so as not to disrupt the area.

"What people expect from a caravan park is neatness and tidiness, and peace and quiet," said Mr Dunham.

He explained that caravan parks such as this one often give retired people the opportunity to visit the countryside on a weekend.

Northumberland contains a number of striking tourist destinations, including the famous Hadrian's Wall built during the Roman occupation of Britain.
