Pack the caravan water heaters, visit South Tyneside's revamped park

Posted by Freddy Morton

Holidaymakers are being urged to pack the caravan water heaters and visit a newly revamped destination in South Tyneside.

Sandhaven Holiday Park has received £1.2 million worth of improvements, including new shower and laundry facilities, hard standing and landscaping.

The seven-acre site is now open for the summer season, with the improvements being testament to how strong a draw the South Shields seafront is.

South Tyneside Council councillor Iain Malcolm told the Shields Gazette: "While the council has led on refurbishment programmes at South Marine Park and Sandhaven Promenade, I am pleased to say this has been supported by similar investment by our private sector partners along the seafront."

Furthermore, those with new caravan water heaters will be able to take advantage of improved pitches, complete with mains water, gas and waste facilities.

Visitors to South Shields can enjoy the northern coastline, while there are also an extensive network of cycle paths and trails to enjoy.
