Park Resorts: Owners changing habits

Posted by Freddy Morton

People buying caravans with fittings like Dometic caravan fridges are increasingly leaning towards buying a first-hand model, according to research from leisure company Park Resorts.

It found that there has been a 21 per cent increase in the sales of new static caravans over the last twelve months, noting that used caravan sales have dropped over the same period of time.

This could indicate that the price of new caravans is becoming increasingly competitive in a bid to remain affordable for consumers despite the difficult economic situation in the UK and Europe.

Gemma Francis, senior brand manager from Park Resorts, said: "While all used units sold by Park Resorts are of the highest quality possible, we understand that many owners want to own a caravan that's never belonged to anyone else."

The Swift Group recently reported that it has enjoyed sales of over £16 million from its last three caravan shows, results which commercial director Nick Page hailed as symbolic of the resilience of the caravanning industry.
