Peak District National Park Authority announces plans for improvements at Hopping Lane

Posted by Freddy Morton

Improvements to a caravan site near Bakewell, Derbyshire have been given the go-ahead by the Peak District National Park Authority.

Motorhome owners with accessories and appliances for your home-from-home like a 12v television may like to pay a visit to the site at Hopping Lane, Youlgrave after facilities such as existing pitches underwent vital repairs.

The site, which has been run by the Camping and Caravanning Club for more than 40 years, will provide a new service point for motorhomes and create a caravan storage area as part of the scheme to regenerate the popular camping destination.

John Herbert, chair of the planning committee, said: "We have given the go-ahead for changes that will improve how the site appears in the landscape and make it less visually intrusive."

The camp has also agreed on plans to remain open for three extra months a year, from February 16th to January 5th.

The Camping and Caravanning Club recently announced that it will operate its campsite at Drayton Manor Theme Park from March next year.
