Plymouth has a lot to offer visitors this summer

Posted by Linda Davidson

People planning their summer holiday this year have been asked to consider paying Plymouth a visit.

The region has a lot to offer owners of Propex caravan water heaters, a spokesperson for the city's marketing body said, including a buzzing metropolitan centre, fine dining and thriving cultural scene.

"Without doubt though, the city’s best asset is the quality of its natural environment and its breathtaking scenery," Duncan Currall, chair of Destination Plymouth, added.

He suggested that over the past year the city has given more focus to its visitor offers and has been considering better ways to attract people to the city.

Furthermore, figures from STR Global revealed that in the first quarter of 2011, Plymouth's revenue-per-available-room increased by 13.6 per cent.

Mr Currall said that highlights of the city were the South West's largest food festival, the British Fireworks Championships as well as year round tourist attractions like the National Marine Aquarium, Dartmoor Zoo and the Scylla.
