Caravan Club spreads the good word about caravanning

Posted by Freddy Morton

The Caravan Club has been campaigning all summer to raise awareness of the importance of caravanning and domestic tourism to members of parliament.

Over 20 site visits have taken place, striking a chord with MPs, and showing the benefits caravanning and holidays in the UK can offer to the economy.

Caravan taps owners may be interested to hear that north Norfolk is top of the holiday spots generating £4.5 million every year from the caravanners who stay on the Club's three sites and 56 certified locations.

The Caravan Club has sent a letter to every MP highlighting just how important the caravanning industry is to the UK economy, with over £400 million being spent by its members in local economies every year.

Minister for Tourism, John Penrose MP, said: "Caravanning has been a successful and distinctive part of the tourist economy in the UK for more than 100 years, with the freedom and sense of adventure they offer as potent today as when the first purpose-built caravan took to the road in 1885."

With Caravan Club membership at an all time high, and on the increase it appears that caravanning will be adding to the UK economy for a long time to come.
