Caravan taps owners 'not put off' by wet weather this bank holiday

Posted by Greg Throughton.

Caravan taps owners will not let the expected wet and windy weather deter them from thoroughly making the most of their bank holiday pursuits this year.

According to iknow-uk, a leading accommodation website, Cornwall, Torquay and Yorkshire are all areas set to benefit from a significant increase in holidaymakers this weekend.

The firm has reported a rise in customers benefitting from last minute deals to these hotspots, and feels the rise is a consequence of a drop in consumer confidence because of failed tour operators, airport strikes and ash clouds.

Compared to the same period last year, customer enquiries for late deals in Cornwall are up by 46.85 per cent, Torquay 19.23 per cent and searches for caravan holidays in Yorkshire this bank holiday are up by 43.57 per cent.

Marcus Simmons, managing director from iknow-uk, said: "It takes a lot more than grey, wet weather to keep Brits indoors, especially over the Bank Holiday when most want to get out and about with their families."

Mr Simmons also said a gradual increase in people looking for caravan holidays is being recorded, and is expected to spread into 2011.
