Caravan taps owners raise cash for charity

Posted by Linda Davidson

Owners of caravan taps have done their utmost to raise cash for charity during a three-day rally.

Members of the Freedom North East 2000 Caravan Club held the three-day event to celebrate its tenth anniversary and raised £624.72, reports the Northern Echo.

Although they did not nominate a specific charity, the caravan club offered the cash to Right Worshipful Mayor of Durham, Councillor Mamie Simmons, who supports a number of charities.

She has offered the cash to St Cuthbert's Hospice and Diabetes UK.

Councillor Simmons told the news provider: "The club's donation to my charity appeal is very generous and I am grateful to everyone who took part in the fundraising activities."

The Freedom North East 2000 Caravan Club has raised money for various charities before including the Great North Air Ambulance and Hartlepool and District Hospice.

Caravan taps owners may be interested to hear that the Camping and Caravanning Club has confirmed that 24 of its sites will remain open during the winter.
