Drivers should refresh their motoring knowledge

Posted by Linda Davidson

Motorists, including those with Cramer cookers and hobs, have been advised to brush up on their driving knowledge.

Adrian Walsh, director of RoadSafe has suggested that people need to keep up to date with the Highway Code in order to keep the road safe for themselves and other drivers.

He said it is essential that motorists do everything in their power to keep within the law.

The comments follow a survey of 1,000 motorists by Santander car insurance, in which 11 per cent of men and five per cent of women admitted to crashing their car because they were distracted at the wheel.

Buying a car and taking out an insurance policy gives road users the benefits of getting around but it also comes with important responsibilities, Mr Walsh said.

"We actually purchase the right to the huge mobility which a car gives us. With that contract comes observance of the law, the car itself, protection of self and others - [that is] insurance and of course taxation," he explained.
