Lake District is number one Easter destination

Posted by Linda Davidson

People with Reich caravan taps have been told that a trip to the Lake District offers a chance for escape from the daily grind, according to Cumbria Tourism.

Ellis Butcher, a spokesman for the organisation, said that as the Lake District lies at the heart of the second-largest county in England it has plenty of areas off the beaten track which a perfect to get away from it all.

His comments follow research from esure, which found that three-quarters of Brits are planning a day trip or overnight getaway during the double bank holiday, with the Lake District named as the number one location.

"Even the so-called busy places are not busy on the scale you see in cities so it's possible to base yourself somewhere remote or near a town and still feel like totally in the country," Mr Butcher told those considering a caravan break.

He added that people new to the area should make a beeline for "Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside, Coniston or Keswick".
