New caravan park plan for Church Stretton

Posted by Greg Throughton.

Caravan taps owners will be interested to hear that Church Stretton's tourism could be boosted after it emerged that a caravan holiday park, plus an adjoining car park, could be built in the area.

The proposed plan, which would see the caravan park incorporated into a tourist trail taking in local beauty spots and areas of interest, could be built to the east of the A49 road.

Elwyn Parks, who owns the land proposed for the development, said the addition of a car park would provide a site for visitors to the town and would encourage people to explore the area by acting as a hub for spots like nearby hill Caer Caradoc.

Mr Parks said a mountain biking and walking trail, close to the proposed park spot, could partner up with the site. The trail is one of several former quarries in the Much Wenlock area set to link up together as part of a trail network developed by the National Trust.

Caravan taps owners will also like to know that UK caravan holidays look set to continue after a reported rise in domestic holidays last year.
