Olympics could leave a lasting legacy

Posted by Linda Davidson

Caravan refrigeration owners may be interested to hear that minister for tourism and heritage, John Penrose MP, believe the London Olympics will leave a lasting legacy in Britain as it has done in other previous host nations.

Mr Penrose believes that the 2010 Olympics may improve the number of great days out available to many people in the UK, including caravanners.

He added that the Olympics will bring people to the UK for the sport and may well encourage them to stay on longer or come back in the future.

Mr Penrose commented: "If we get it right, we will suck all sorts of people into this country who haven't been before and wouldn't have thought of it."

The minister's comments come after Visit England figures revealed that many people chose to stay in the UK for their holiday instead of flying abroad.

Recent Caravan Club figures revealed that the caravanning industry contributed over £400 million to the UK economy every year.
