One-tenth of motorists hit by an uninsured driver

Action is needed to remove uninsured drivers from the road, Brake told those with Spinflo caravan cookers and hobs.

Figures from Direct Line and the road safety charity revealed that one in ten motorists have been involved in a collision with a driver who was not insured.

Emily Moxon, spokeswoman for Brake, said that uninsured drivers are more likely to take risks, crash and flee from the scene if they hit someone, adding that it is "vital" these highly irresponsible and illegal motorists are removed from the roads.

"Driving is one of the most dangerous things most of us do on a regular basis, so if you drive, you have a responsibility to yourself and others to stay within the law. This means making sure that you drive carefully at all times," she told motorists and caravan owners.

Meanwhile, other research from Santander revealed that men are more likely than women to be involved in an accident.
