Pen and paper are 'key for travelling with kids'

Posted by Freddy Morton

Parents travelling with young children should consider packing a notebook and pen as well as their caravan devices, it has been claimed.

Cathy Ranson, editor-in-chief of Netmums, said that the simplest of things can often be the most effective.

"Little ones like to draw around their hand or colour in things you've drawn for them. Older children can play noughts and crosses, hang man, draw cartoons or draw you a picture," she explained

With just a little bit of imagination, an perhaps some prompts for the little ones, Ms Ranson claimed that it had the potential to be "many toys in one".

The comments follow research by Gatwick Airport which revealed that nearly one in three families find disturbing other holidaymakers one of the most stressful aspects of a trip abroad.

Ms Ranson added that distractions can also be a great technique for travelling with small children and suggested a new toy or fresh sticker book could be enough to prevent bad behaviour.
