Plans for new caravan park at Walsoken

Posted by Linda Davidson

People with motorhomes and camper van apparatus planning their next holiday could consider a trip to Walsoken, Norfolk after a local hotelier announced plans to attempt to launch a caravan park in the area.

Michael Stratton has made a bid to the council, asking to be allowed to use the field at Sibley Field Farm, Biggs Road for touring caravans after being knocked back last summer when he attempted to launch the venture, reports the Cambs Times.

He hopes to bank on the support of the Walsoken Parish Council, which has given a green light to the project after deferring to West Norfolk Council for the previous application.

Mr Stratton plans to improve the facilities nearby and claimed the proposals "will greatly improve the available space for client usage and add to the visual appearance of this property."

The main sticking point with the council is the width of the nearby highway, which they consider insufficient for the purposes.

A potential competitor for Mr Stratton's business would be the Kelling Health Holiday Camp, a caravan and camping site set in the picturesque Weybourne woodland.
