Sally Gunnell plans Olympic caravan site

Posted by Greg Throughton

Former Olympic champion Sally Gunnell is transforming her family farm into a caravan site for the upcoming Games, those with Propex caravan water heaters have been told.

Gunnell, who won the 400m hurdles at the 1992 Olympic Games, has teamed up with the Caravan Club to create a temporary site for people to get together to celebrate and watch the event in 2012.

"The plan is to have a central area where there will be big TV screens and different things will be going on each evening, so even if people are not actually at an event, they'll still be living the Olympic dream," the former athlete said.

She explained that the decision to develop the temporary caravan site has come about from a conversation she had at the Boat and Caravan Show in Birmingham and said that it is nice the Olympics "have come full-circle" for her.

A number of caravan sites across the UK will be holding special events for the Olympic Games, many in close proximity to London for those with tickets to watch.
