Spider in the Works

Caravan hobs and caravan fridges are super places for spiders to spend the cold winter months. They will quite often spin their webs in the gas burner tube and this will affect the critical gas/air mixture that is required to give a clean blue flame.
The presence of a spiders web will be exhibited by a yellow flame on your hob or on the fridge burner. Sometimes this will disappear fairly quickly depending on the location of the web. If the yellow flame persists then get a competant person to clean the burners because a constant yellow flame does indicate 'incomplete combustion' which can lead to the production of carbon monoxide.
It is unlikely that a caravan hob will be lit for long periods and therefore providing there is sufficient ventilation any carbon monoxide that is produced will be dispersed fairly quickly. If however all windows and rooflights are closed and any other fixed ventilation has been covered then the occupants may experience some drowsiness.
For caravan hobs and caravan fridges a certain amount of fixed ventilation is provided. Be sure, therefore, not to cover any ventilation grills you may have in the floor or walls of your caravan.
