Caravan accessories: Uninsured driving hotspots identified

Posted by Greg Throughton

camper van accessories owners have been warned that several areas of the UK have been identified as the country's worst for uninsured drivers.

New research published by the Motor Insurance Database has identified Birmingham's Bordesley as the area with the worst rates, despite a countrywide drop in uninsured drivers of 25 per cent.

Out of the worst 20 postcodes, 17 are in the West Midlands and West Yorkshire, making these areas hotspots for illegal driving.

Phil Gormley, lead chief constable for road policing at the Association of Chief Police Officers, has highlighted the fact that uninsured camper van accessories owners living in these areas will be targeted.

He said: "Overall there is good progress being made to reduce the number of vehicles being driven without insurance and today there are 500,000 fewer of these on the roads than five years ago."

Earlier this month, the Office of Fair Trading announced that it would be reviewing the cost of motor insurance in order to determine whether the industry is competitive.
