Couple's may soon say 'I do' on Bournemouth beach

Posted by Freddy Morton

Remis caravan rooflights owners may want to consider a summer holiday to Bournemouth.

According to tourism chiefs in the area, the Dorset beach may well become the first in the country to offer couples to tie the knot with their toes in the sand.

Bournemouth's tourism department is applying for planning permission to set up a beach hut 'chapel', as it is receiving around 60 inquiries from couples each year.

"With the increasing cost of foreign travel and weddings abroad, it's a good time to introduce our very own 'UK weddings on the beach' offer," Mark Smith, head of Bournemouth's tourism department told the Guardian.

A small wooden hut would provide the venue for couples tying the knot, with an indoor facility on hand should the weather turn, it revealed.

The Bournemouth Echo revealed that businesses along the beach front whole-heartedly support the plans and expect the scheme to be very popular.
