Daily Mail: Caravan insurance is a wise purchase

Brits who have invested in caravan taps for their mobile home may also be wise to pay for insurance to ensure their vehicle is covered against damage or theft.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, buying cover for a mobile home could be a smart move, with the popularity of caravanning increasing dramatically in recent times.

The newspaper explained that the Camping and Caravanning Club has seen a 25 per cent rise in bookings at its sites and now estimates the number of owners in the UK to be around 500,000.

"With a new four-berth caravan costing upwards of £15,000 and motorhomes starting at £20,000, they are attractive targets for thieves," the article noted.

Fortunately, modern anti-theft technology has helped to drive down the number of mobile homes being stolen in the UK.

Using such devices can also get caravanners a discount on their insurance, with the Daily Mail suggesting that savings could be in the region of 30 per cent if using the Caravan Club's cover.

Caravan owners have a plethora of options in the UK this summer, including the Edinburgh International Festival, which takes place in August.
