Devon enjoying caravan boom

Caravan refrigeration customers will be interested to know that caravan parks and other accommodation sites in Devon are reporting a sharp rise in bookings.

According to Visit Devon, caravan parks are positive about the rest of the season and are pleased that bookings are rising given the damaging recession.

According to the Dartmoor Partnership, tourist spots are seeing an increase of 57 per cent in bookings compared to last year.

Caravan rooflights customers will love Woodovis Park, an award winning camping and caravan site close to Dartmoor. The site has reported an increase in visitors this season.

Rosie Bates, general manager of Visit Devon, laid out the reasons driving the increase.

"Uncertainty about the economic future and the emergency budget led many people to delay making a decision about their holidays this year. The exchange rate with the Euro and Dollar and the problems with air travel have all helped to encourage people to holiday at home. On the positive side the recent good weather has definitely helped attract visitors to make late bookings for holidays in Devon," she said.

Caravan taps customers thinking of heading to the area should also heed the advice of the Highways Agency, which has said holidaymakers should plan their trips with care.
