Embrace nature in Durham

Posted by Linda Davidson

Green-fingered owners of campervan accessories and apparatus may want to get to Durham in the coming weeks.

Paul Bunton, community project manager with the Woodland Trust, explained that the conservation charity has a number of upcoming VisitWoods events in Durham, during which participants will be invited to plant trees.

"We provide the trees and the spades and the ground to plant the trees in," he explained.

He added that after a small demonstration, people will be invited to go off in small groups and plant them in designated fields.

"Generally, we get a reasonable turnout and it's quite a social activity. Obviously, people can come back afterwards in months or years to come and see how their trees are developing," Mr Burton said.

Meanwhile, new figures from the ABTA – The Travel Association have found that eight per cent of Brits most look forward to an outdoor holiday over other types of break.
