Environmental focus for caravan parks

Posted by Freddy Morton.

Caravan water heaters owners will be interested about a new project in Lincolnshire aimed at ensuring caravan parks comply with certain environmental waste regulations.

According to the Lincolnshire Echo, Operation Clean Sweep, which will primarily focus on parks sited on the county's coast, will perform checks to ensure sites are following regulations on processes like waste disposal. The scheme will also work directly with park management to provide specialist advice.

One particular area of focus will be responding to reports of illegal disposal of waste at sites. There is concern that certain items are being disposed of in an unsafe manner.

The project is a joint operation between East Lindsey District Council and the Environment Agency.

Peter Stark, senior environment officer at the Environment Agency, said: "The Lincolnshire coast has the highest concentration of seasonal residential tourism and leisure sites in Europe.

"These sites can produce a significant number of waste electrical items, including televisions and microwaves, as well as hazardous items such as fridges and batteries."

Caravan water heaters owners travelling to the beautiful region may wish to consider staying at Bainland Country Park, a beautiful wooded site set in the Lincolnshire Wolds.
