Get creative in Devon

Posted by Linda Davidson

Families seeking a fun holiday with their Smev caravan hobs and cookers should consider a break to Devon.

On July 3rd this year, families are in for a treat in the form of the annual UK National Sandcastle Competition at Woolacombe beach in North Devon.

The event, which is now in its 16th year, asks teams to create sculptural masterpieces only out of sand in a designated area which is ten metres squared.

In the past, notable sculptures have included igloos, bathing belles, crocodiles, cartoon characters, turtles and dolphins, with more unusual creations such as a boxer and a stag.

The event is sponsored by North Devon Hospice and is great way to spend the day with a group of friends or family and really get those creative juices flowing.

Anyone can enter the competition and the Hospice is now accepting registration.

"This is a fantastic day out with friends or family, and is particularly popular with company teams who can spend a fun day out with a bit of activity and team-building thrown in," the organisation said.

Furthermore, Woolacombe Bay Holiday Parks is offering a promotion on three night breaks, starting from July 1st.
