Half-term breaks 'to be hit by heavy rain and winds'

Posted by Linda Davidson

Owners of a Truma Ultrastore caravan water heater who are taking their motorhomes away for the half-term break may experience high levels of traffic and bad weather, reports show.

Traffic experts predict that there were around 15 million cars on the roads over the weekend and the figure is set to continue to be high for the rest of the week.

Although weather reports for the weekend were good, rain and heavy winds are on their way for the duration of the school break, according to Met Office reports.

Dan Williams, from the weather monitoring service, said: "There will be a risk of gales in exposed locations and the weather will continue to be unsettled throughout the week, with a mixture of sunshine and showers expected in most regions."

He added that the west and south-west will be among the worst hit areas.

VisitBritain estimated that there will be around four million trips made by UK 'staycationers' during the last week of October, many of whom may be the owners of caravan items.

Takethefamily.com said that the recent spell of unseasonably good weather, coinciding with the beginning of the school year, has caused many people to look around for a last-minute holiday.
