Lacock offers caravan owners 'beautiful historic attractions'

Posted by Greg Throughton.

Caravan taps owners who are planning a holiday for the end of the year may wish to check out Lacock, in Wiltshire.

According to research carried out by TripAdvisor into the top 10 most searched for destinations on its site, the picturesque village of Lacock came out on top.

The village's beautiful abbey has been a local point of interest for centuries and is now being enjoyed by tourists who flock to the village to admire the medieval architecture.

Lacock has become famous in recent years as period dramas and films such as Pride and Prejudice, Moll Flanders and Harry Potter have taken advantage of the charming setting.

"Brits are clearly rediscovering domestic travel and realise there's an awful lot to see on a weekend break without leaving the country," noted TripAdvisor spokesperson Emma O'Boyle.

She added that disruptions to air travel following the Icelandic ash cloud and airline strikes has resulted in many people choosing to stay in the UK this summer.

Other destinations featured in the top 10, which caravan taps owners may wish to check out, include Tarporley in Cheshire, Ripon in North Yorkshire and Dawlish in Devon.
