M50 roadworks 'could cause disruption'

Drivers and owners of Vaillant caravan water heaters travelling in the West Midlands could see some disruptions to their journeys in early 2012 due to essential maintenance work to the M50.

The Highways Agency has announced plans to undertake a safety project between junctions one and two of the road, which will include some resurfacing of the eastbound carriageway and also the installation of a new drainage system.

Purnima Kaul, the agency's project manager, said that every effort is being made to keep disruptions to a minimum.

She commented: "This essential work will improve driving conditions for road users and will reduce the need for closures for maintenance in the future."

Furthermore, a careful schedule has been put in place to keep delays low between January 9th and February 18th when the project will take place.

A contract was recently agreed upon to carry out work on the M60 in Birmingham in order to implement a new traffic management solution on the busy road.
