Motorists called to vote on clock change campaign

Posted by Greg Throughton

A road safety charity has today (October 13th) called for the end of so called "daylight robbery", owners of Waeco caravan fridges were told.

With the nights starting to draw in, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) has begun a mission to provide an extra hour of evening light by sticking permanently with daylight savings time.

The organisation claims that this move could save up to 80 lives and prevent up to 200 serious injuries on the roads each year.

If the clock change campaign is successful, the bill will lead to the government carrying out a cross-departmental analysis of the benefits of Single/Double Summer Time (GMT+1 in winter / GMT+2 in summer) and a three year trial.

"I urge as many people as possible to join the debate - and to help make a difference," said Tom Mullarkey, RoSPA's chief executive.

Meanwhile a survey by mytres.co.uk has revealed that Brits are ignorant of the benefits of winter tyres.
