Newlyweds opting for UK staycations

Posted by Linda Davidson

Taking a short break instead of a long holiday is becoming more common, an expert has told those with caravan accessories.

Jane Anderson, editor of 101honeymoons.co.uk, said that following a wedding, most couples are either short of time or money so a brief getaway either within the UK or abroad is an idea that is fast gaining popularity.

So much so that the newly married Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have chosen not to take their honeymoon straight away, instead opting to spend an extended weekend at a private location in the UK immediately after the wedding.

"The traditional two weeks on a foreign beach is on the decline. In line with the rise of the staycation, many UK couples are looking to honeymoon at home … ranging from luxury tented lodges in Wales to romantic five-star hotels or even glamping," Ms Anderson explained.

She added that today's newlyweds are increasingly travel savvy and know they want a honeymoon with a difference.
