Posted by Freddy Morton

Families with Whale caravan taps planning a caravan holiday this summer should make a beeline for Nottingham, it has been claimed.

A spokeswoman for the region's tourism body said that the city of Nottingham and the surrounding county provide the perfect destination for a family holiday.

Jenny Leighton, from Experience Nottinghamshire, said: "Families will be spoilt for choice with the colourful offering of attractions that are waiting to engage, educate and entertain every step of the way."

She noted that the county has a number of top attractions including Nottingham Castle, The Galleries of Justice Museum, Nottingham Contemporary and Lakeside Arts Centre to name just a few.

What's more, Creswell Crags is home to Britain's only recorded Ice Age art which has recently been shortlisted to become a World Heritage site.

Figures from STR Global revealed that Nottingham remains a popular tourist spot as occupancy ratings increased by 11 per cent this year.
