Spain becoming popular for food and wine lovers

Posted by Linda Davidson

People who love to rustle up Spanish cuisine on their caravan hobs and cookers and wash it down with wine from the region may wish to sample the real thing by planning a caravan holiday to Spain.

Carmen Hernandez Gomez, market analyst at the Spanish Tourism Office, noted that new tourism destinations in the north of the country are becoming popular due to the interest in food and wine.

"Asturias, Galicia, Leon and other regions offer new experiences to those who already know some parts of Spain and want to do something different," she said.

Lonely Planet travel editor Tom Hall recently said that Spain is a very affordable destination among Brits, with the cost of eating out relatively low compared to other countries.

A recent Lloyds TSB Insurance survey found that most Brits are planning to stay in the UK this year but those that are travelling further afield are looking at Spain (15 per cent), Italy (15 per cent) and France (12 per cent).
